Paste Private Key From Clipboard Step 4 Implementation Summary

Stage 1 - Account Key Restore Affordance

  • Changes:

    • Added a restore private key control to the existing /account/key/ advanced browser identity actions.

  • Verification:

    • php -l templates/pages/account_key.php passed.

  • Notes:

    • Behavior is intentionally unchanged until the restore control is wired in later stages.

Stage 2 - Local Import Helpers

  • Changes:

    • Added clipboard-read fallback support, private-key armor normalization, decrypted-key validation, username extraction, public-key derivation, and imported identity storage helpers in browser_signing.js.

    • Exposed the import helpers through the existing browser identity test hook.

    • Added focused helper coverage for successful local import, malformed input, unreadable private keys, encrypted private keys, and no-storage-write failure behavior.

  • Verification:

    • node --check public/assets/browser_signing.js passed.

    • php tests/run.php BrowserSigningNormalizationTest::testPrivateKeyImportHelpersDeriveAndSaveIdentityLocally BrowserSigningNormalizationTest::testPrivateKeyImportRejectsNonPrivateKeyArmorWithoutStorageChanges BrowserSigningNormalizationTest::testPrivateKeyImportRejectsUnreadablePrivateKeyWithoutStorageChanges BrowserSigningNormalizationTest::testPrivateKeyImportRejectsEncryptedKeyWithoutStorageChanges passed.

  • Notes:

    • Private key material remains confined to local helper inputs and local storage; the helper stage does not add network behavior.

Stage 3 - Account Restore Wiring

  • Changes:

    • Wired the restore private key control into the account key page binding.

    • Added a transactional local identity swap: imported identities are saved only after validation, and previous local identity state is restored if publishing fails.

    • Reused the existing public-key publish/link flow and simple account status mirroring for restored identities.

    • Added account-page coverage for successful restore, public-key-only network body, ready status, field updates, button re-enable behavior, and publish-failure rollback.

  • Verification:

    • node --check public/assets/browser_signing.js passed.

    • php -l templates/pages/account_key.php passed.

    • php tests/run.php BrowserSigningNormalizationTest::testAccountSetupPublishesGeneratedPublicKey BrowserSigningNormalizationTest::testAccountRestorePrivateKeyPublishesDerivedPublicKeyOnly BrowserSigningNormalizationTest::testAccountRestorePrivateKeyRollsBackWhenPublishFails passed.

  • Notes:

    • Import link requests send only public_key; the tests assert the derived link body does not contain private key material.

Stage 4 - Regression Verification

  • Changes:

    • Completed regression verification for the browser identity and account key restore surface.

    • No additional implementation changes were needed in this stage.

  • Verification:

    • node --check public/assets/browser_signing.js passed.

    • php -l templates/pages/account_key.php passed.

    • php tests/run.php BrowserSigningNormalizationTest passed.

    • php tests/run.php passed.

  • Notes:

    • Full-suite verification completed without unrelated failures in this environment.
