Seen as access, custody is a promise that no one can lock a community out of its own history. On v3 every member can read, copy, and keep the whole board, and can bring it back up somewhere else. Nobody has to ask permission first. Consent works the same way. The question is not how to hide posts, but how to share them on purpose. When you post, you choose who you are giving it to: this instance only, or the public set that gets exported and seeded to the world. The more people can see and copy, the more clearly the site should say so up front. Then sharing is a gift you chose to give, not something that happened to you later.
